The challenge

The district heating network loses a large share of its heat in transmission and depends almost entirely on natural gas.

The project

Replacement of primary network sections, installation of substations with individual metering, and introduction of a large heat pump plus recovered industrial heat as base load. The programme is being structured as a single financing case across four phases so that the network upgrade and the generation change are not procured against each other.
