CityAir – launch of the project
Starting in 2020, we started developing the CityAir project. The pilot project was launched in June 2021 in Bucharest and enjoyed immediate support and promotion from the media and civil society.
The sensors measure in real time the suspended particles PM 1, PM 2.5, PM 10, humidity, pressure and temperature.
Why is it important?
〉 Because a person consumes 1kg of food daily, drinks 2l of water and breathes 15kg of air
〉 Because we spend 90% of our time indoors
〉 Indoor air can be up to 50 times more polluted than outdoor air
Pollution generates
〉 7% of deaths from lung cancer
〉 18% of COPD (lung disease) deaths
〉 20% of deaths caused by stroke
〉 34% of deaths due to heart disease
